Transponder are automatic devices that receive, amplify, and retransmit incoming signals. Transponders are used to extend optical coverage, adopt short haul to long haul transportation of fiber infrastructure or transform optical wavelength to build up WDM systems. Multiprotocol transponder are suitable to do all this for all data and telecom systems, making the devices deployable for many applications.
