The DPXab is part of the DistancePlus-Family and serves to increase the range of analog subscriber lines. This allows the extension of analog interfaces via a 2-wire line. The possible distances depend mainly on the used cables and diameter. The DPXab suits well for VoIP equipment, which does normally not offer the capability for long-distance connection, as this was the case with legacy telephone equipment.
To achieve the longer distances, the supply voltage and the ringer’s voltage are increased accordingly so the higher loop resistance can be compensated. The voice signal is amplified adaptively.
In this way distances can be bridged up to 8km on a 0.4 mm diameter twisted pair.
The DPXab does support all kinds of analog equipment like analog phone and fax and is optimized for MFC (multi frequency code). Pulse dialing is not supported.
Two different cases are available for the installation of DPXab. The TG-1 is a robust desktop housing made of metal, which is also suitable for wall mounting.
For applications requiring higher density, the 19"-chassis 19R3 can be used. This chassis is made to house three members of the DPX-family. Thus, parallel operation can be realized in one housing.
